California Jeep Lemon Law Attorney
Wrangler death wobble, 4xe battery failures, Grand Cherokee transmission shudder. Jeff Le Pere knows the Stellantis defense playbook from the inside. Free review. Statewide.
California’s Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act covers every Jeep sold or leased in the state with a manufacturer warranty still in effect. That includes the Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Gladiator, Cherokee, Compass, and the 4xe hybrid lineup. If your Jeep has the same defect after multiple repair attempts (two for safety issues, four for non-safety), or has been out of service for 30 cumulative days, you may qualify for a buyback, a replacement, or a cash settlement. Stellantis pays the attorney fees on successful claims.
Does California Lemon Law Cover My Jeep?
Yes. Every Jeep sold in California with a manufacturer’s written warranty falls under the Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act. The protection covers gas, diesel, and 4xe plug-in hybrid variants. It applies to new Jeeps, used Jeeps still inside the original warranty, and certified pre-owned Jeeps with their own written warranty. Whether you bought outright, financed, or leased, the protection runs the same.
The Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Gladiator, Cherokee, Compass, Renegade, and Wagoneer are all covered. The 4xe plug-in hybrid platform (which spans Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe variants) carries an additional layer of federal high-voltage battery warranty protection on top of Song-Beverly.
For the broader framework that applies to your Jeep, see the firm’s California auto lemon law overview. The same Song-Beverly statute, Tanner presumptions, and remedies apply across every brand.
Common Jeep Defects We See in California Lemon Law Cases
Wrangler Death Wobble
Violent steering shake at highway speed, often triggered by uneven pavement. A documented Stellantis safety pattern with multiple TSBs and recalls. Falls under the two-attempt safety threshold.
4xe Battery & Charging Failures
High-voltage traction battery faults, charging system errors, EV-mode dropouts, and PHEV controller faults on Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe. Subject to both Song-Beverly and federal high-voltage battery warranty requirements.
Grand Cherokee Transmission Shudder
Torque-converter shudder and 8-speed automatic transmission issues. Frequently presents as a low-RPM vibration on highway driving. Repeated TCM reflashes and torque-converter swaps without resolution are a strong qualification pattern.
Cherokee 9-Speed Transmission
The ZF-sourced 9-speed automatic in the Cherokee has had persistent shift quality, hesitation, and slipping issues across multiple model years. Multiple Stellantis software updates have not fully resolved the problem.
uConnect & Electrical Failures
Persistent infotainment freezes, backup camera failures, parasitic battery drain, body control module faults, and recurring check engine lights across Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, and Gladiator.
Gladiator Drivetrain Vibrations
Driveshaft vibrations and 'Gladiator shake' at highway speed, often unresolved through multiple driveshaft and transfer-case repairs. Qualifies as substantial use impairment when repair attempts fail.

Your Jeep May Qualify If
- Two or more failed repair attempts for a safety defect like death wobble, a sudden 4xe shutdown, or a brake or steering failure.
- Four or more failed repair attempts for the same non-safety defect, such as transmission shudder, recurring infotainment failures, or unresolved electrical issues.
- 30 or more cumulative days out of service for warranty repair within your first 18 months or 18,000 miles.
- A failed Stellantis recall remedy. If the recall fix did not resolve the defect, the recall service counts as a failed repair attempt.
- An engine, transmission, or drivetrain replacement under warranty. Major component replacement on a near-new vehicle is itself a substantial impairment of value.
- Repeated dealer visits documented as “could not duplicate” for a defect that later proves real.
